Big things have arrived at the new site of the Cook Museum of Natural Science this week! A semi full of pieces and parts of the our new Rivers & Streams exhibit have been unloaded and stored as we continue to prepare the space for the installation.
One of the unique features in this exhibit will include a beavers' lodge, recreated from an actual lodge that was deconstructed and donated to the Cook Museum.

Happy 4th of July! In honor or the holiday, today's Trivia Tuesday is all about starfish. Did you know starfish are a large and diverse class with about 1,500 living species?
Most starfish have five arms that radiate from a central disc, but the number varies with the group. Some species of starfish have the ability to regenerate lost arms and can regrow an entire new limb given time. Regrowth can take several months or years, and starfish are vulnerable to infections during the early stages after the loss of an arm.
The lifespan of a starfish varies considerably between species. For example, Leptasterias hexactis lives for about ten years while the Pisaster ochraceus has a maximum recorded lifespan of 34 years.
