October Community Classes

$12 (+ tax) per participant

Limited spots available. Adults who would like to participate in the class are able to register and pay the $12 fee for their own slot (if available). Admission to the Exhibits is not included. There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at groups@cookmuseum.org or (256) 898-6312.

October Class Topics:

K – 4th Grade Class: Interesting Insects
Maximum: 10
In this engaging and active program, insects of Alabama are in the spotlight! Students learn what makes an animal an insect while dressing up the instructor in an insect costume. Playing a matching game will help young learners understand what makes insects different from other animals. And finally, creativity fills the room as the students make their favorite insect using craft materials.

5th – 12th Grade Class: Bovine Eye Dissection
Maximum: 15
Studying the eye is difficult to do – that’s why we bring the eyes to you! Come join us for a dissection program focusing on the eye and how it functions. Participants in this program will navigate through the anatomy of the bovine eye, discuss the structures found, and understand just how marvelous sight is!
