Simple Nature Bracelets
This child-directed activity is an opportunity for little ones to really use their senses, observe the natural world around them, and learn as they go.
You will need:
- Duct tape
- Outdoor place to collect leaves, flowers, etc. to stick on the bracelet
Directions:
1.) Measure a piece of duct tape long enough to wrap around the child’s wrist, making sure there is enough space to slide it off the child’s hand.
2.) Wrap the duct tape (sticky side out) around the child’s wrist, attaching the two ends together.3.) Head out on a nature walk, encouraging the child to explore and find items to stick to the bracelet. Flowers, leaves, twigs, berries, bark, and feathers will work well, but the possibilities are endless.
4.) As the child adds items to the bracelet, you can ask questions about color, texture, smell, and more. Each item found is an opportunity to discuss life cycles, seasonal change, and other details about nature.
