Public Classes & Workshops

Individuals can dive deeper into specific topics using hands-on learning with the Museum’s classes and workshops available for ages as young as 2 all the way up to adults. Limited spots available. Admission to the Exhibits is not included. 

There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at (256) 898-6312.

Little Larvae Learning Series

Offered once a month in the Spring and Fall
For children ages 2 – 4 with their caregiver
Cost: $12 (+ tax) for 1 child & 1 adult; $12 (+ tax) for an additional child 

Come join the fun in these wonderfully engaging and interactive classes that have the smallest of our guests in mind! In each class, children will learn about an animal by listening to stories, singing fun songs, and creating theme-inspired crafts. These classes are designed for a caregiver to enjoy this experience with the child. 

Homeschool Classes

Offered once a month in the Spring and Fall
Grade Level: K – 12th
Costs vary based on the class

Attendees will explore a new topic each month and the lessons are structured to touch on state science standards. Classes are divided by grade levels:  K – 2nd, 3rd – 6th, and 7th – 12th.  All classes include a hands-on component, with many of the 7th – 12th grade classes including a dissection. 

Insect Pinning Workshops

Offered multiple times through the year, typically on either a Saturday or a Public Holiday
*For ages 12 and older
Cost: $30 (+ tax), $5 Member Discount

The Insect Pinning Workshop at the Cook Museum is for all pinning levels. Participants will learn insect orders & anatomy, how to ethically collect & preserve insects, and learn the scientific pinning & labeling methods. Each participant will take home a box of pinned insects.

*Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
