Individuals can dive deeper into specific topics using hands-on learning with the Museum’s classes available for ages as young as 2 all the way up to high school. Limited spots available. Admission to the Exhibits is not included.

Little Larvae Learning Series
Offered once a month in the Spring and Fall
For children ages 2 – 4 with their caregiver
Cost:$48 (+ tax) for 1 child & 1 adult for all four classes; $48 (+ tax) for an additional child for all four classes
Come join the fun in these wonderfully engaging and interactive classes that have the smallest of our guests in mind! In each class, children will learn about a different theme by listening to a story and participating in theme-inspired hands-on activities. These classes are designed for a caregiver to enjoy this experience with the child.
Homeschool Classes
Offered once a month in the Spring and Fall
Grade Level: K – 12
Cost: $56 (+ tax) per participant, per semester (4 classes)
Attendees will explore a new topic each month and the lessons are structured to touch on state science standards. Classes are divided by grade levels: Grades K – 2, Grades 3 – 6, and Grades 7 – 12. All classes include a hands-on component.
Virtual Reality Dissections
Offered at specific times through the year
Ages: 11 – Adult
Cost: $14 (+tax) per participant, per session
The VR dissections, developed by Victory XR and Carolina Biological, utilize Meta VR headsets to provide an individually paced and fully interactive dissection experience. Different VR dissections (squid, sea star, frog, or shark) will be offered on select days. Dissection experiences last approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Water Wednesdays at the Cook Museum
Available specific dates in Fall 2026
For all ages (ages 2 & under FREE but will need a ticket)
Cost: $15 (+ tax) per participant, per session; $5 Member Discount
Kick off the school year with a fun, family-friendly experience featuring hands-on learning stations and Exhibit exploration!
Classroom activities are designed for participants in grades K – 6 to complete with a registered adult. An additional craft station will be available for all ages, including younger siblings and adults. Families can work together or team up with friends to complete a Scavenger Hunt through the Exhibits, discovering nature and animals along the way. A designated lunch space will be available – feel free to bring your own lunch or purchase food onsite from Nature’s Table.
This program is separate from, but pairs well with, the Water Wednesdays at WaterWorks Environmental Learning Lab (for participants in Grades 7 -12).
